Who Can Join

Phoenix Credit Union’s main strategic goal is to provide financial services and benefits to OneSteel employees.

Phoenix Credit Union has a long history with the employees of OneSteel. The Credit Union has been providing services to these employees since it first started its operations in 1969. OneSteel evolved from past businesses and it is because of these past associations that employees from other companies such as BHP, Tyco and their subsidiary companies may be eligible to join the Credit Union.

The OneSteel company has more recently entered into a joint venture to form a new company named Australian Tube Mills Pty Ltd.  Employees of this new company are now eligible to join due to the OneSteel relationship.

The Credit Union is also committed to delivering benefits to the immediate family of all members.

Are you eligible to be a member of Phoenix Credit Union?

The following extract of the Credit Union constitution determines your eligibility to join.

A person is eligible for membership under any one of the following categories:

• Employment – an employee of:
  • OneSteel Limited or a subsidiary or associated company;
  • Phoenix Health Fund Limited,
  • Phoenix (NSW) Credit Union Limited; or
  • A successor to the business of any of the above;
• Approved persons – a person approved by the Directors who has an affinity with the Company; or
• Continuing Membership – a person who is a member but has ceased to be eligible for membership in accordance with the categories of membership; or
• Family – the spouse, child, parent, brother or sister of any person eligible for membership.

Member Share

A member share is a redeemable preference share. This means that, when you resign your membership your share subscription price will be refunded. Your member share cannot be sold.

A member share costs only $2, join and enjoy the benefits of membership.

It is often easier for you to apply for membership if you can call into our office. Our friendly staff can assist you to complete the application forms. However you have the option of mailing your application for membership to our office.
